General and Preventive Dental Care in Ste. Genevieve, MO
Care That Helps You Stay Ahead of Dental Problems
General and preventive dentistry is the foundation for a healthier smile at every age we serve. At Ste. Genevieve Family Dental Care, these visits are designed to help patients understand what is happening with their oral health, address concerns early, and keep treatment as straightforward as possible. Our office welcomes local families, teens, adults, and seniors from Ste. Genevieve, Bloomsdale, St. Mary, and nearby rural communities. Children under age 9 are referred out unless they are exceptionally cooperative and the visit fits within the office scope
Preventive care is not only about cleaning teeth. It is also an opportunity to check the condition of the gums, look for early signs of decay, review changes in existing dental work, screen for oral health concerns, and talk through questions before they become bigger issues. For many patients, a regular exam is the easiest way to avoid surprises and feel more confident about the next step in their care.

What May Be Included in a Preventive Visit
Preventive appointments may include comprehensive oral evaluations, routine cleanings, digital exams and X-rays, oral cancer screenings, fluoride treatments, dental sealants, and other recommendations based on the patient’s needs. Routine cleanings are performed using ultrasonic tools, including Cavitron and Piezo scalers, along with hand scaling. This allows the team to remove buildup while tailoring the visit to the patient’s comfort and oral health needs.
Oral cancer screenings and fluoride treatments are routinely included during standard checkups. Dental sealants are available for children who fall within the practice’s treatment age range and for high-risk adults when appropriate. Sealants can help protect the chewing surfaces of certain teeth, especially when deep grooves make those areas harder to keep clean.
Digital Exams and 3D Imaging When Needed
Our office uses digital exams and X-rays to help evaluate teeth, roots, bone, and surrounding structures. In-house 3D CBCT imaging is also available for specific clinical needs, including dental implant planning, wisdom teeth evaluation, and certain root canal cases. Not every patient needs 3D imaging, but when it is recommended, it can provide a more detailed view for planning and diagnosis.
The goal of every preventive visit is to give you useful information without rushing the conversation. If something needs attention, Dr. Dubina and the team will explain what they see, why it matters, and what options may be available. If your needs are outside our office scope, we will be honest about the appropriate next step.
What to Expect from Our Approach
Our preventive approach is intentionally unhurried. We want patients to understand what is being checked, why certain images or screenings may be recommended, and what can be done at home between visits. When patients feel informed, they are more likely to keep up with routine care and call before small problems become more complicated.
If you have not seen a dentist in a while, you do not need to feel embarrassed. The first step is simply getting a clear picture of your current oral health. From there, we can help you prioritize what matters most and build a practical plan.
Care That Feels Familiar and Thorough
Preventive dentistry is also where the hometown feel of the practice matters most. These visits give patients a regular place to ask questions, mention small changes, and stay connected to care before dental problems become harder to manage.
